What a privilege to stay so close to Canterbury Cathedral. ....right at the gate. Certainly and old building full of character. Room was comfortable and the breakfast generous. A lovely overnight stay.
The hotel is in the perfect location - literally right next to Canterbury Cathedral and looking over a quaint square in the centre of old Canterbury. And this is what you're paying for.The room (called 'Cloud') was small, with a small double bed (propped up in one corner with a pile of books due to the sloping floor!), a desk and some hooks and clothes hangers on the wall (no wardrobe), a sink and mirror and (old) TV. The furnishings were nice, and the bed comfortable. I asked for an iron and board, and it was brought to the room. There are two shared bathrooms on the floor, with stand-up showers in, which were both good. I never had to wait for the shower or toilet, and I think the place was pretty fully booked. There is one small sash window, not double glazed, and the sound from the street comes right up to the room. However, they provide ear plugs which were very effective, and even with the window open (it was hot, and there's no air conditioning), I slept well. There is a small bar and roof terrace. The continental breakfast was very good, and the full-English (extra 7.50) looked amazing.Staff were good, but they could do with putting some - any - info in the rooms: there was nothing about wifi (they do have it) or the breakfast or check-out times. Remember it is an old, crooked, listed building, so you get all the 'charms' that come with it: no air-con, no double-glazing, very steep stairs, very wonky floors. Be prepared for what you get, and you'll have a lovely time. Take advantage of the car parking deal offered, it's better than paying full price down the road. The pub across the square does a very good breakfast deal too.
Excellent little hotel. Spotlessly clean. Staff friendly. Beautiful fresh fruit and croissants included in the complimentary breakfast.
Nice stay there. A little bit disturbed by the always on light in the corridor which was visible through the window and the key hole. Continental breakfast was adequate.
A great base to explore Canterbury - right in the centre! The rooms were comfortable and clean, and we were made to feel very welcome. The wifi worked in both the rooms our party had, often a problem in older buildings. Worth pointing out that as this is an old building, accessibility is a little limited. Breakfast was good. Will definitely consider for our next trip to Canterbury
