Having used Regal to successfully let my own property in Wincheap in the past, I went straight to Regal when I needed to rent a house in Canterbury myself. Everyone in the office was really helpful and friendly and talked me through my options. I was showed around a couple of properties by a young lady called Sophie who was knowledgeable, polite and punctual. Thanks Regal!
We sold our house through Regal Estates 2 years ago. Rob took loads of pictures and the ones used made our house look like a show home. The customer service was great, despite difficult purchasers. I would really recommend... it's amazing reading these reviews and how mixed they are.... some people are so miserable and it really doesn't reflect the experience we had. Rob and his team are very knowledgeable and strive to help no matter what.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - even if it is the best property at the best price. It has been the worst experience of our lives. We applied for a property and had an issue with a landlord where we were living abroad. He would not provide a reference as they are not duty bound to do abroad. This is quite normal and all other estate agents (we have spoken to retrospectively) would try to find a solution. Regal lettings told us that we could use one of our previous landlords (although they fiercely deny now that they said this). So basically they sent us on a merry dance to try and obtain references from previous landlords (which was not easy as they were retired). After almost 2 weeks they then turned around and said all of a sudden that the reference needed from our current landlord or not at all. This was all going on during our holiday so we couldn't relax at all. In some ways it was a lucky escape as these idiots were managing the property and it would have been hell to have had to continue dealing with them for 12 months. I've subsequently tried to complain and request a refund of agency fees (as most other estate agents would). They just don't answer the questions and tell more liesI'm sure they will post a response to this defending themselves and mentioning how none of this is true, but consider this - what reason would I have to lie, other than to warn other potential customers?
Everyone is nice when you visit the Canterbury office, but as a tenant the experience wasn't great. As soon as the contract was signed we have received very little support throughout our 12 months lease. It took months to replace a boiler, with slow or no communication all along. In the end, in spite of our best efforts to leave the flat in perfect condition (said the inventory specialist, since we had it cleaned twice) it was a pain to get the deposit back in a timely manner (no deduction from the landlord so nothing that would slow the process). In the absence of our property manager nobody followed up my phone calls, just asking for an update! Only when I spoke to Robert the process was "actionned", and then we got our deposit a few days later. All in all, and from a tenant's perspective, I would not particularly recommend Regal due to lack of support and communication. That's no way to treat a customer considering we spent quite a lot of money on them (which is standard but still!). EDIT AFTER RESPONSE. The boiler issue has been raised in April and the boiler replaced in June, so that is several months but hey thanks for making me look like a liar. Secondly your explanation regarding the deposit return makes no sense, and nobody told us anything about reaching out to the scheme since there was simply no communication! Why would we do that anyway, since YOU are responsible for returning the deposit (also there was no dilapidation since no damage; we got all the money back). Have a nice week ahead.
