Competitions are not organised at all. Went to a competition there as soon as I got there I had to do long jump they didn't let me have any practises or test out my run.
i got an hour afterschool detention for not sticking a sheet in my book
Happy overall with the school my daughter is thriving learning wise.
This is my daughter speaking- I believe that the rules are mostly pointless and are a way of disipling us in ks3 as they have very few other things to pick at us with as we do not do anything of essentail importance as we go through everything again in ks4. They also claim to be feminists but this is untrue as we are not aloud to were stockings because we are women and it is sexaulising. My friend got told of for wearing ripped jeans because her knees were showing we are also not aloud to show our shoulders, upper thighs or a slit of belly. This is not feminism. when asking why these rules exisists they were unable to answer althugh there was one reply; it makes us become a distraction to teachers because we look sexaul. I think any teacher who gets distracited by a pair of stockings should be a disgrace to be hired and an embarrement to the school but apperently not apperetly its the students who are a disgrace. When year 7s wear stockings they dont get punished but if the older girls do we get a card signing. They are also racists within their rules, Black people are aloud to wear exstensions, braids etc. but white people, are not. This seems to be a trend, in the Simon Langton Boys school black boys can shave their heads but when a white student did they were made to wear a hat to school. Many people became so targetted and under pressure in this school that they resorted to self harming and depression. We arr constantly being challenged with ne questions that we hadnt covered in our tests. For example this year the questions were the ones cut from previous years because of being to hard. They probably done this to try and look good by showing of grades that dont always exsist. This also seems to be a trend. In my set the average was about 17/62. I dont regret writing this becuase my school is alwayts deemed as one of the best in Kent I want to prove with the student voice they have taken away from me that the School and the Pupils are not connected and when the students are treated like this Im ot sure they ever will. Non-school uniform days dont exsist we dont have human rights in this school we dont even have the right to get bad grades or we get punished. so there I cant wait to get punished for this, for sharing the news of SLGS.
the school is falling down and some of the teachers bully the students. the homework is reasonable but a lot of stress is put on to all the students and the teachers do not sympathise with the pupils in any way shape or form. the uniform is disgusting and some of the rules are pointless. the students are told to "be themselves without being afraid" but as soon as one tries to do that they are told "you aren't allowed to do that" or "that's against school rules" and i understand that rules are rules and they should be followed but don't tell us one thing and then tell us we can't do it. The news of becoming an ACADEMY Isn't too much of a big deal, but the change of the timetable in is going to cause many problems with traffic along Old Dover Road as St Anselms would be coming out around the same, meaning the buses will block the road up even more than they already do. Fridays will no longer be cut short which i can tell you, the students are not happy about. While i was there, there were multiple occasions where part of the ceiling had fallen down on to a student and told to carry on and ignore it by the teacher. Yes this school gets the grades but the atmosphere feels like that's all they care about and not the mental well being of the students. The PSHE department only consists of one teacher who actually understands the students. Most people that go here feel like the Head teacher doesn't do enough for the school but more for SPIRES ACADEMY. Although I thought the school was so terrible i met life long friends here, and that is the only reason that i feel it was worthwhile going here.
