Lovely venue beside the railway station, can be quite busy on the weekend so if you plan to visit the restaurant I highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Otherwise you can sit at the tables/stools which don't require booking and pick your own items from the stalls situated around the hall. Highly recommend the large pizza slices for 2.50 each and the sausage rolls for 1!
The restaurant is fantastic if you want a sit-down, delicious dinner. Cooked by chefs who create the menu daily based on the fresh produce on offer. The rest of the shed is fantastic for grabbing a drink, more casual lunch, or deli food to take away.
Love this place. Great market, cafes, delis and restaurant for anyone who cares about food. Makes me love Canterbury more each time I go back. Sample as much as you can, as often as you can!
Restaurant had good food, really terrible table service and bad drinks. The waiter was inattentive, blanked us when we tried to talk to him, and ignored what we asked for when ordering. He brought soup but forgot the bread and didn't bring either of our drinks until after the food arrived - we had to ask for them again. When I asked for extra bread (a side item explicitly listed on the menu) he said we didn't need it. We said we wanted it anyway, but he did not bring it. In the end we shared the two slices we got with the soup between us. We tried to ask about it but he wouldn't talk to us. Bizarre behaviour.I also ordered a hot cider whisky drink; I like both good cider and good whisky but this was a terrible combination that was sour and undrinkable - even for someone who likes sour drinks. It was completely the wrong pairing without adding something sweet like honey or sugar. The food was good, the drinks were bad but I would not be back on the basis of the service, which was bad and needlessly rude. There were plenty of staff around and several empty tables; the ratio of servers to covers was generous, so I can't chalk the service up to being busy.RE: Coffee ShopThe coffee shop tables are separate to the restaurant and are next to the fish and meat counters (both of which are oddly next to the entrance, rather than at the back). Unless you like the smell of fish while grabbing a tea/coffee/muffin I would give popping in for a drink or snack a miss.
Lovely place, friendly staff and super helpful with the beer. Watching the staff talk to customer was lovely, they know so much! Been a beer fan for years and they are some of the most helpful staff regarding beer that I've found! 100% would recommend this place (and the good she'd in general) to visit. Keep in mind in colder months it can be chilly!
