Really comfortable place to grab a quick snack in town. The pastys are great, with quality varieties amongst the traditional, and friendly, welcoming staff
Their pasties do taste pretty much like Cornish ones are supposed too - not quite as good as my Grandma used to make of course! Often the type we want is sold out or won't be ready for some time so loses a star.
Called into the Canterbury store for a Cornish pastie to take away. My parents live in Cornwall and we live few miles outside Canterbury so wanted a proper pastie. Ordered my husband a traditional pastie which he said was nice, I had the chicken and chorizo, I was a little disappointed, the pastry was dry and not much filling. Unfortunately we won't be calling again as I found the price of 8.90 rather expensive for a mediocre pasty. I will be getting my pasties from Cornwall in future.
Shocking value on jacket potatoes. My daughter had tuna, I had chili. A tablespoon of each on our potato. So Ive just effectively paid 2 for a spoonful of chili. Pretty rubbish.
Flustered and confused staff, constantly deciding who's doing what job, even though not busy all. Was served a burnt and dry pasty with luke warm and undercooked wedges.I asked for a new pasty and my plate taken away, returned with the same plate and a new pasty, rather than a whole fresh plate.New pasty was marginally better, but dry and tough pastry and hardly any filling.Don't understand what's happened to this place, used to be much better, simple tasty food. A shame the very food of their namesake seems to be the worse thing they offer. Such a prime location in Canterbury too.
