Great Eversbody should stop by to see this little church :)
The oldest English church that has been in continuous use. Renovated in the 6th century by Queen Bertha, the church is thought to have originally been in use in the late Roman period before falling into disuse. Forms part of the World Heritage site.
The graveyard is the resting place of Mary Tourtel who created Rupert Bear and the livestock painter Thomas Sidney Cooper. You can still see the thin red Roman bricks in the walls of the church.
By far the best place I visited in Canterbury. It's quiet because it's out of the way but it's free. They had an awesome guide who gave a brief history and they also have a guide with things of note. For the oldest church in the English speaking world this was a great place to visit.
That the place is free is a bonus for visitors. Is a nice old church even if it wasn't so significant for its history. The church yards are nice with trees and a cemetery. We could relax in the shade of a tree in the hot summer. The person inside the church welcoming guests was super friendly. He gave everyone a free guide map of all the attractions inside and around the church, which is very helpful.
